Friday was Kevin's day off, so we loaded up the car and headed for Oceanside Beach. It was just Kev, Kate and I as Brandy went to spend the weekend with her Dad and Kyle was still recovering from a bout of strep throat which struck in the middle of the night Tuesday with a fever of 102. He still had a low grade fever as of Thursday night, so we decided he needed one more day at home to rest. To be honest, Kevin and I really enjoyed some quality time with just Kate. Below is the view at the beach when I'm sitting in our spot on the beach looking back. I love the rows of townhomes and Palm trees. We love this beach and plan on spending lots of time here this spring and summer. It was a beautiful breezy day and slightly cool at just barely 70 degrees. In fact, I kept my windbreaker on the entire time as the ocean breeze was just cool enough to make me feel chilled.
Below is the view looking out at the ocean and the pier. At the end of the pier is a restaurant which we plan on trying one of these days called Rosies. It apparantly has great burgers and other casual foods.
Below is Kate soaking up some sun on her back. Her exact comment a few minutes before was "I wish I could lie here forever" Can you blame her?
I love this shot of Kate below, looking out at the water.
Here is Kevin and I enjoying a very relaxing day.

Today (Saturday) Kyle was feeling better so we decided to go to La Jolla Shores Beach. This beach is FABULOUS! The sand is some of the softest you will ever feel between your toes and there is a large grassy park that sits directly behind it. Today it was warmer at 75 degrees, and without a breeze..so the weather was warm and wonderful. It could not have been better! This shot below is once again looking back from our spot on the beach. The homes near this beach in La Jolla are so wonderful. Once we got set up, Kevin and I took a long walk through one of the neighborhoods directly behind the beach. What we wouldn't give to live right on this beach! Very near by this beach is also San Diego State University. In fact you can walk to campus from this beach.
Below is a shot looking out at the ocean from our spot on the beach. The land you see is the city of La Jolla .
We rented wet suits for the kids so they could enjoy a day of boogie boarding together. We had hardly set up our spot for the day before Kyle was in his wet suit and ready to hit the waves!
Below is our "camp" for the day. Kevin and Kate enjoy sandwiches and chips that we picked up at Subway in LaJolla.
After lunch Kate jumped into her wet suit and prepared to join Kyle in the water.
I LOVE these shots of the kids. They are ready to hit the waves together! The kids have been boogie boarding together since they were in grade school. When we used to visit my Mom and Dad in Morro Bay over Spring Breaks and Summer vacations over the years, we would take them to Cayucus and Avila Beach for boogie boarding. They still love it today! Notice also in these pics that Kyle is now officially taller than Kate!
Off they go to hit the waves! (that's Kyle doing a "happy dance" as he walks down)
After a long day of boogie boarding, Kate sits back and relaxes while soaking up some sun and visiting with her Dad and I. Our two days at two beaches ended all too soon around 5 p.m. tonight when we packed it up and headed home. On our way, we stopped for a slice of pizza at our favorite pizza by the slice place in Carlsbad that we discovered last Summer. What a wonderful two days!
